Writing

Emma writes 20–30minute stage-plays and screenplays for children, often based on myth and fable. She has written for Dreamas drama classes, since 2009 – writing, directing, and producing original stage-plays around characters invented by the children.  She also writes for children’s TV – Brilliant Pictures.

She received training from Curtis Brown, Write Mentor and Peter Ansorge at the National Film and Television School.

In 2011, she wrote a full-length adult stage play, based on the life of Marguerite Monnot who, with Edith Piaf, became the first-ever successful female song-writing duo. 

She has since written the pilot episode of a limited series about their relationship.

A film of this is now in pre-production, and a short is available to view: In The Shadow, 2025.

Happy Families, a musical for children, written and produced with the orchestrator, Ken Gibson, 2015.

Since 2016, adaptations of Shakespeare, world mythology and poetry, producing children’s performances on the stage for Holiday Academy.

YA novels, including Now Antigone – about a 15-year-old Londoner who gets caught up in the life of Antigone, daughter of Oedipus.
