‘There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings.’ – Hodding Carter
Teaching
With a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in the Primary sector, Emma has been both class teacher and one-to-one tutor in state and private primary schools across North and West London for 30 years; as well as working privately in literacy, numeracy and drama.
‘Both girls got their first choice school offers.’ – Natalie (parent)

‘Miss Emma brought out the best in all 3 of my children, tailoring her approach to each of their needs and characters, preparing them for their transition to both state and private school.’ – Anita (parent)
Tutoring
Emma tutors in Kensal Rise, West London, at Primary school level – for excellence in Maths and English.
She helps with 11+, ISEB, school banding, and SATs.
After assessing your child, she designs a program to build their confidence, harness their creative energy, fine-tune their talent, and foster a love of education.
In this way, she creates a firm foundation – enabling your child to discover the joy in learning – to use what they do well as a springboard to find their wings and fly.
Dreamas Drama
Empowering children to unleash their imaginations and create a play for themselves. Working with 5- to 12-year-olds, every skill and ability of each child is noticed, nurtured and shared.
‘Emma always made me want to do well.’ – George (pupil)
‘Emma is a wonderful teacher with a love of learning which she instils in her pupils. I cannot recommend her enough.’ – Roisin (parent)
Inspired by classical texts and poetry – Anansi, Shakespeare, William Blake, Lewis Carroll – and each other, the class produces a play, taking into account the children’s individual skills, ideas, preferences, talents and passions. Then, using specially developed games and exercises, we develop their chosen characters and the relationships between them.
‘I really can’t recommend these drama sessions enough -memories for life!’ – Rikke Liljenberg (parent)
In Literacy, one of the basic things to learn is a love of writing, to feel that you can do it yourself, to see the process and to understand the structure of a piece of writing.
‘Dreamas has a strong focus on developing children’s imagination.’ – Mandy de Lotbiniere (parent)
‘It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.’ – Albert Einstein
Since Dreamas drama allows every child to be involved in the production of the play, when they see it performed, their ideas made physical, they gain confidence in their own creativity.
‘Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.’ – G.K. Chesterton
As well as Literacy, the process of producing a play covers many other areas of the school curriculum, so children’s schoolwork flourishes. In particular, children learn about relating: how to express themselves and to listen to others. In doing so, they become self-confident, as well as sensitive to others’ differences. This early education in the pleasures and difficulties of navigating life are vital in helping children find their place in the classroom and then in society.
